Placing the yellow corners

Put each yellow corner in its spot, even if it’s twisted.

Keyboard: Enter to continue, ← to go back. Keep your hands on the cube.

Read whole lesson on one page

A corner is “in its spot” if it’s between the three right centers, whatever its orientation: a yellow-green-red corner must be between yellow, green and red.

Find a corner already in its spot and hold it front-right. Do U R U' L' U R' U' L, and repeat until all 4 corners are placed.

If no corner is in its spot, do the algorithm once from anywhere: one corner will then be placed.

Remember: This algorithm cycles three corners without touching the rest: watch it in the animation.

The cases

  • Cycle three corners: U R U' L' U R' U' L. Keep the corner that’s already in the right spot at front right. Repeat until all four corners are in their spots.

Troubleshooting

No corner is in its spot
Do the algorithm once from anywhere: one corner ends up in its spot. Put it front-right and keep going.
How do I know if a corner is in its spot?
Ignore its orientation: just look at its three colors. If they’re the colors of the three centers around it, it’s in its spot.
