Orienting the yellow corners

Make the whole top face yellow in a single algorithm, instead of R' D' R D corner by corner.

Keyboard: Enter to continue, ← to go back. Keep your hands on the cube.

Count the corners already yellow on top. 1 corner: it’s Sune or Antisune. 0 corners: H or Pi. 2 corners: Headlights, T or Bowtie.

To tell them apart, look at where the yellow stickers are on the sides: each card shows how to hold the cube.

Start with Sune and Antisune: between the two of them, they’re enough to solve every case by repeating them, while you learn the other five.

Remember: Learn 2 or 3 algorithms a day at most. Cases you validate join your reviews: that’s where they become automatic.

The cases

  • Sune: R U R' U R U2 R'. Only one yellow corner on top, front left.
  • Antisune: R U2 R' U' R U' R'. Only one yellow corner on top, back right.
  • H: F R U R' U' R U R' U' R U R' U' F'. No corner on top: two yellows at the front, two at the back.
  • Pi: R U2 R2 U' R2 U' R2 U2 R. No corner on top: two yellows on the left.
  • Headlights: R2 D R' U2 R D' R' U2 R'. Two yellow corners at the back, two “headlights” at the front.
  • T: r U R' U' r' F R F'. Two yellow corners on the right, the others face front and back.
  • Bowtie: F' r U R' U' r' F R. Two yellow corners on a diagonal.

Troubleshooting

The yellow cross falls apart
These algorithms keep the cross: if it breaks, a move went wrong. Replay the case in slow motion in the player.
I don’t recognize the case
First count the yellow corners on top, then look at the sides. Never start an algorithm before identifying the case.
