A corner with white facing up can’t be inserted directly. You first have to turn it: R U2 R' hides it and brings it back out with white on the side.

Place the edge before doing that R U2 R', so the pair forms along the way. The two cases below show the two edge positions.

After that, you’re back to a basic insert.

Remember: R U2 R' is the tool that turns a corner without touching the rest: you’ll see it often.

The cases

  • White on top, edge on the right: R U2 R' U' R U R'. Corner white facing up. Edge top right, green on top.
  • White on top, edge at the back: U R U2 R' U R U' R'. Corner white facing up. Edge at the back, green on top.

Troubleshooting

After R U2 R', the corner still has white on top
The edge wasn’t placed beforehand. Watch the animation: the edge must be on the right or at the back, green on top, before you start.
